This title has zero to do with today. It is just a song that Jen wanted Bob to play while we were sitting outside listening to music by the pool. He and Loren always sit by the pool playing their favorite songs for each other. The night culminated with T-Baby singing "It's So Cold in the D", but that is a story for the end of the blog.
The plan for today was to meet the aunts for lunch at 12:30. We were gonna check out of our hotel and head to Jill's, but she was at the dentist and he was running behind. She told us to drive slow. Instead, we went to Lakeside Cemetery to visit a friend. I actually, sadly, have several friends buried here, but we only had time for one. It's quite surreal to be visiting the grave of someone my age, someone Jen and I had spent a lot of time with, and someone that died tragically far far too young. Most people would think we were beyond crazy for starting our day this way, but hey, that's us.
We met Judy and Jill and had a very yummy brunch at a place called Johnny Cakes. It was fun to catch up and hear all of the family gossip. We went back to Jill's and Dallas forced a few rounds of fetch with Loren. Dallas is a funny dog. He drops his toy at Loren's feet, goes to stand in the next room to wait for the toss, and then barks if his gesture is not noticed. I don't think that dog ever runs low on energy.
After getting to Jen's, I did 20+ days of laundry. We sat out by the pool, but had to wait out a heavy rain before Bob could grill our sliders for dinner. We managed just fine with starters of margaritas, chips, dip, mini tacos, and pizza rolls. The rain finally stopped and we had some yummy burgers. Jen had been dressed in her swimsuit and ready for the pool since she got home today, but I was not ready for a swim. However, I was ready to cool off. My sitting on the edge of the pool with my feet dangling in the water turned into a full clothed swim. Hey, why not? Jen and I floated around for awhile while the boys listened to music. Jen moved from the pool to the hot tub, but I just sat wrapped in a towel and wet clothes. Bob had to get up for work in the morning, so he told Jen he would play T-Baby if she got out of the hot tub. He found the version that Beavis and Butthead watch, comment on, and dance to. We probably woke up the neighbors laughing.
Tomorrow is Jimmy Buffet and our anniversary, so stay tuned!!
Practically since the day we met, Loren and I have been sharing "wonderings" and "wanderings". We have already been on countless adventures. We are here to share our random experiences and travels with friends and family- but also as a place for us to go back and remember our journeys. Enjoy!
