Day #11- Forever and Forever Stanford Red

I thought a line from the Stanford fight song was fitting today.  We love touring college campuses and today we went to the home of Richard Sherman, Andrew Luck, and John Elway.  I carry a little Richard Sherman keychain in my purse, so it was fun to take him back to his Alma Mater.  This campus was very large and spread out.  We really only got to see the stadium and the athletic store, but what we saw was very pretty.  It's obvious why the mascot is a tree.   Not sure that makes for a very formidable opponent for sporting events, but neither is a Lumberjack.

We really like this town, area, and hotel...with one exception.  We did not realize they were cleaning Nazi's at the Pacific Inn.  There is a sign on the door that says they must come in each day- not that we read the sign until later.   Most hotels are 'green' and want guests to reuse towels, etc.  Not this place.  We had already told housekeeping "no thanks on two occasions.  The third time, I was fresh out of the shower and Loren was in.  Suddenly, our door was getting beat down.  I kept yelling "no thanks!", but the banging continued.  I opened the door a slight bit to say we were not in need of service.  The housekeeper was carrying a clipboard and said she had to check on things.  She tried to push around me and get into the room.  I stood my ground and said, "No, you can't check things, my husband is in the shower."  I then had to physically shut the door on her to get her out.  Loren called the front desk to request that housekeeping NOT shove their way into our room and he was directed to the sign on our door that we now read.  So, apparently we have to leave each day while they clean and "inventory".  Either that or we could just sit here and watch them.

We planned our activities for the next 2 days.  Tomorrow we head to Roaring Camp for a steam engine ride through the Redwoods.  Stay tuned...
