Today we witnessed absolute craziness. From our window, we have a perfect view of the Stratosphere. For those of you who don't know, the Stratosphere rises 1,149 feet above the Vegas strip. It is the tallest observation tower in the US. It has rides at the top. People get on rides that dangle them off the top of the tower and spin them around. That was bad enough. But then when we watched more closely, every now and again, we saw someone just fly off the top and fall all the way to the street level. I can't even imagine paying to risk my life.
After spending too much time watching from afar, we decided to head over to see the place in person. We had a great time roaming around the hotel, poking around in shops, playing in the arcade, and having dinner in a hotel diner with yummy burgers. We considered going to the top of the tower, but decided against it when we saw it was $20 a person just to get up there.
We were excited to find a roulette game for 25 cents. Most are at least a $3 min bet. We played for a few minutes until a lady near us started to chat with us. She told us she was waiting for the big hit on her slot machine because she had already lost $600 today. That made me very sad. I was excited to win $4.25 and this woman had LOST so much. This showed me the darker side of Vegas. We started back to our hotel and could not believe the number of people who thought it would be a good idea to bring small children to Vegas and keep them up past midnite.
We hope to go to the gangster museum tomorrow and to see the Haunted Museum that Zak Bagans from Ghost Adventures is opening. Stay tuned...
