People all around the world watch the news and hear about the fires in California. Well, we are in the middle of it. Guess what? It's just fine. Not scary. Life goes on. Everyone here is aware of where the fires are located and just drive another direction. We were sitting in the living room chatting with the windows open and could smell the fires blowing in the wind. Between the mudslides and fires, Mother Nature is going after California.
Ok, that's my POV on the fires. We had lunch and shopped today at a huge kitschy funky hotel mansion called the Madonna Inn. Each room of this hotel is decorated differently. The restaurants are decorated in the same way that they were when they opened all those years ago. It was like walking into a time machine.
Beach observations today include our feet being all chawed up by sand fleas. Also, sea gulls may as well be vultures. They go after picnicers like vultures go after roadkill. We watched a lady and her 2 kids get swarmed by numerous seagulls who were bold enough to get right onto their blanket. We decided to get up and get outta there when one started eyeballing us. We have been chased once and don't need it to happen again.
Dan is taking off tomorrow and we are headed to a Dutch community called Solvang. Stay tuned...
