We had planned to take a bay cruise today. I was excited to ride under the Golden Gate bridge and to be on the water. However, I woke up with a horrible earache. I guess the wind on the Rock got me yesterday. We decided to skip the boat and the risk of me wasting the rest of our vacation being sick.
We decided to stay close to home and explored our neighborhood. Apparently our hotel is in the Marina district of Lombard Street. We walked to Mel's Diner for breakfast. Sadly, Flo wasn't there to tell customers to "Kiss my grits!". Still not feeling great, we decided to go back to our room and rest. 4 hours later we both woke up. I wasn't feeling well...what was Loren's excuse?!? He reminded me that maybe it was the 12+ miles that we walked yesterday. Good point.
We had ice cream for lunch and then a great (and huge!) slice of pizza for dinner- all from little shops that we discovered near our hotel. A glance down the street allowed us to be near the bay even if we didn't get on it today.
We head to Grover Beach tomorrow to spend some time with mom's best friend, the lady who watched me grow up, and who threatened me with a wooden spoon if I set foot out of line- Phyllis. Stay tuned...
