Day #8- Cuz Baby You're A Firework

Today I had to decide between naming the blog after a line from Katy Perry's Firework or Styx Mr. Roboto.  We walked outside today to see a bus unloading about 200 Asian people at our hotel.

Domo arigato,  Mr. Roboto!  We were experiencing what we now call the Asian Invasion.  Trying to come back into the hotel was a feat of cat like balance, the spin moves of a Steph Curry, and the patience of Mother Theresa.  Little Asian people and their wheelie suitcases filled the huge hotel lobby.  We escaped into the hotel gift shop and pretended to be interested in the 1,000 items all reading, "What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas".  Seeing that the million visitors were all still gathered, we made a break for the elevators.  Bad timing.  They all started moving as we did.  There are about 8 elevators and all 200 of them crowded in front of one.  We noticed a far one opening and bolted for it.  One couple noticed it and practically knocked me down shoving to get on it.  As soon as we were on board, I started pressing the door close button.  One other American couple managed to squeeze on, looking a little rattled by the experience.  Now don't get me wrong- I am sure these were all lovely people looking to have some fun in Vegas.  It was just painfully obvious that there are cultural differences in crowd behavior and personal space.

We did little other than hang around our hotel area today.   All the tours we considered were sold out.  I guess 4th of July visitors planned ahead.  We didn't lose any money- so it was a good day.
Come night fall, we had the most amazing view of miles of fireworks from our hotel window.  Loren said it looked like bombs dropping on a village or something.  Everywhere the eye could see, fireworks were exploding.  While the display was beautiful and bombs are not- he had a point.  It was like all war movies we have seen except with explosions of bright colors and brilliant lights.  We treated ourselves to a room service dinner and planned the next leg of our trip.

We head to sunny California tomorrow, so stay tuned!
