Day #9- Shot Thru The Heart and You're to Blame

I guess it is fairly crude for me to have this Bon Jovi lyric as my title for today, but it seemed fitting!  It was check-out day at the SLS Vegas and we slow rolled this process...1:00 struck and we reluctantly left cloud bed... Waiting til the very last second to go.

We headed out for our #1 reason for this Vegas visit- Zak Bagan's Haunted Museum.  The museum is still not open to the public, but is super eerie just from the outside.  We could peek thru the gates and see gargoyles, dolls, and creepy life sized models.  This is going to be one scary place when/if it finally opens.  There was a big jacked up truck behind the gates and we assumed it was Zak's.  Loren hollered for him to come out and talk to us.  Alas, the only chat we had was with a security guard.  Or maybe he was the neighborhood hobo.

We headed down I15 and found a Dennys at the Gold Strike casino.  We were pleasantly surprised by a display of movie cars.  We got to see cars from Back to the Future, Grease, and Fast & Furious, among others that were not as exciting.

After a yummy breakfast at an empty Dennys, we were back on the road to Whiskey Petes Casino to see the Bonnie and Clyde death car.  Talk about a dark heavy feeling!  This casino had the actual shot up car and the shirt that Clyde was wearing.  The experience would have been better without the screaming infant who was not enjoying the display, but it was still a great stop on our adventure- thanks Arthur for bringing it to our attention.

We stopped at the halfway point between Vegas and San Fran- Bakersfield.   Tomorrow we will be in cooler weather and ready for more fun.  Stay tuned...
